Desert Island Discs has been on air on BBC Radio 4 since 1942. Each week guests are invited to share with the hosts their life stories.
On the show, the guests are usually referred to as ‘Castaways’, and they share the eight tracks, a book and a luxury they would take to a desert island. The eight tracks are not necessarily songs but can be recordings or any other form of audio.
Intimate, candid and honest conversations make up Desert Island Discs as the castaways always discuss their lives and the reasons behind most of their choices.
