The Bobs return on September 10, 2026. The Infinite Extent is the sixth Bobiverse book, an Audible Original running eight hours and twenty-two minutes, written by Dennis E. At eight hours and twenty-two minutes it is a notably tighter listen than book five, Not Till We Are Lost, which ran eleven hours and forty-one minutes when it arrived in September 2024.

A to-do list that reads like a season finale

Audible lays the book out as a Bobiverse to-do list, and it is a long one. Determine who built a vast wormhole network and why. Investigate a mysterious derelict alien spaceship. Crack faster-than-light travel. Help tens of thousands of refugees find a new planet. Confront a new threat from an old enemy. Then work out how to save the known universe from certain destruction.

That is a great deal of plot for eight hours, which suggests a book that moves. The wormhole network and the faster-than-light problem have been building across the series, so book six looks less like a fresh adventure than a set of long-running threads finally being pulled at once.

Ray Porter, again, and why that is not a small thing

Porter has narrated the Bobiverse since We Are Legion (We Are Bob) in 2016, and this series is one of the clearest cases in modern science fiction of a narrator becoming part of the text. The whole conceit only works if a listener can tell dozens of copies of the same man apart, and Porter does it with timing and attitude rather than accents.

Audible quotes a listener line in its own copy that sums up the appeal: with Ray Porter narrating, this surge drive is firing on all cylinders. It is marketing, but it points at something real. For a lot of people the Bobiverse is a Ray Porter series as much as a Dennis E. Taylor one.

Where to start if you are new

Not here. The Bobiverse runs in order, from We Are Legion (We Are Bob) through For We Are Many, All These Worlds, Heaven's River and Not Till We Are Lost, and book six assumes you know who is angry with whom and why. The good news is that book one is short, funny and self-contained enough to tell you inside an hour whether the rest is for you.

For everyone already caught up, the wait since Not Till We Are Lost is nearly over, and Audible has this one high in its overall chart on pre-orders alone. For a sixth book in a mid-series science fiction run, that is unusual.
